Japanese Bottle Jet Pack

I caught this on yesterday's Watt's; it's hilarious. I've seen other videos of Japanese bottle rocket pranks, but this one was the most successful flight I've seen so far. In fact, I'd say the flight went far beyond any of their wildest expectations. :)

No, I'm pretty sure that's the real deal. :) As I mentioned in the post, I've seen a few other of these Japanese bottle rocket videos on Youtube. Because there are so many bottles shooting out water simultaneously, they can be quite powerful. I think this rocket pack benefited from having a fairly skinny guy; I was thinking that if that had been me going for the ride I'd have been lucky to get 1/3 the distance. ;)

Mythbusters did a segment debunking this stunt. They concluded the footage is faked somehow...

On the one hand, saying that the video must be "faked somehow" isn't going to win me over without more convincing proof. I have considered that the video was faked; it's certainly possible. The most convincing proof for that is the back-left camera (which shows how far whatever it was - the person, the mannequin - flew) vs. the right-pier-side camera (which shows the guy's body in flight). The thing about the pier-side camera is that the guy's body seems to be the same size regardless of the distance traveled. One would think that if the videos were real the body should shrink due to perspective. I don't know. As I mentioned earlier, these bottle rocket packs can be pretty powerful. Check out this video and tell me what you think.
